Tech Girls

The YWCA Houston is working to address the still-evident and significant gender gap in girls' interests and skills in STEM fields. Encouraging students to explore STEM paths can increase their confidence and further reinforce their interests. They can also use these activities to develop skills that will affect their career later on, like science projects, robotics competitions, field trips, and job shadowing. We are now expanding our platform to include STEAM. The expansion will add arts to the curriculum. It reassures inspiring girls and young women that they should also pursue leadership in STEAM as part of their contribution to society. Linde and YWCA Houston are teaming up to support students in the south union area with an introduction to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics).
